Under the general direction of and reporting to the Director of Power Generation, the Power Solutions Consultant is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with customers within an assigned territory. This position travels to and meets with customers on a regular basis to inquire of and develop strategic power solutions. Additionally, this role works in conjunction with Inside Sales Representatives to ensure timely quoting and delivery of products and services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for meeting annual sales and margin quotas in assigned territory.
    • Sales and margin quotas will be determined by the Company in its sole discretion and communicated yearly in writing to the Employee.
  • Manage sales with the aim of achieving gross margins and sales revenue that exceed forecasts.
  • Account Development:
    • Identify, develop and execute plan to penetrate and maintain accounts for sustainable business
    • Provide budgets and forecasts as requested
    • Assist the Company in developing stronger relationships with its customers
  • Visit and work with potential and existing customers to sell the Company’s products, including:
    • Actively pursue sales opportunities
    • Create timely and accurate estimates and quotations
    • Read and interpret engineered specifications and create proposals for customers to meet project closing deadlines
    • Proactively consult with engineers, as required, to clarify specifications and to determine what exact equipment needs to be bid
    • Prepare, coordinate and make presentations
    • Perform ‘site visits’
    • Travel the territory to ensure all products sold by the company are being fully marketed and/or represented to potential customers
    • Ensure full and complete geographical coverage
    • Collaborate with sales team colleagues to promote products and to facilitate efficient projects
    • Actively pursue information which will benefit the sales team
    • Assist Project Management team with effective and accurate project administration
    • Assist engineers in writing specifications and work with them as a partner on projects to have Company named and specified as the recommended supplier.
    • Prepare, coordinate and assist with presentations to the engineering community as required
    • Regularly and accurately populate the company’s business tracking tools, such as CRM
    • Develop and maintain a customer and prospect listing
  • Work as part of a team and communicate in such a way that will avoid problems and disputes, always putting the customer (internal and external) first.
  • Learns the product to become a trusted subject matter expert to better assist customers.
  • Take a proactive approach to resolving customer complaints and disputes.
  • Present a professional image to the Company’s customers and suppliers and always maintain the highest ethical standards of conduct.
  • Sales to certain strategic accounts or customer verticals, as assigned.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience. Would prefer a degree in engineering, construction management or other technical subject. Degrees in marketing, sales, and business-related subjects will also be considered.
  • Sales and sales support experience of three or more years, preferably in the power generation industry
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel up to 50%
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the English language and good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel and Visio and SharePoint
